Clay tiles combine durability with a pleasing and lasting appearance. Clay tiles mellow with age and are resistant to exposure to the wind, rain, frost and sun.

A wide variety of surface textures and some ceramic matte colors may be applied before drying and firing. The natural red color of clay tile results from the firing process. High gloss ceramic glazes may be applied to fired tile, which in turn is refired to add durable color and gloss to the surface.
